The teenager was driving an i20, ran over people sleeping on a pavement, says police.
Two persons were killed and six injured in Ahmedabad when a car allegedly being driven by a 14-year-old ran over a family sleeping on a pavement.
The young teen was allegedly alone in the Hyundai i20 car when the incident happened at about 2.30 am. The police said he sped away with the damaged car, and was detained from his house an hour later.
"The teenager was driving at a speed of at least 120 km per hour," a person who witnessed the incident alleged. Another eye-witness added that he tried to chase the boy, but couldn't. He noted the car's registration number that helped the police nab the teenager.
The boy's parents have reportedly told the police that they did not know he had taken the car out in the middle of the night.
A 24-year-old woman and her brother in law have died. The six injured too belong to the same family. They are said to be out of danger.
