Mumbai:
An elderly doctor couple, who had apparently not been keeping well, was on Tuesday found dead in their residence in suburban Kandivali, police said.
As of now, police do not suspect any foul play in the death of Maniklal Shah (76) and his wife Surbala (66). They were found dead by their adopted son Neeraj (23), who is said to be mentally unstable, they said.
Surbala was ill since the past few months whereas Maniklal too had not been keeping well of late. Neeraj works at a fruit shop and was staying with them, police said.
Maniklal appeared to have died last night and Surbala at least 48 hours ago, said Hareshwar Pimple, Senior Inspector at Kandivali police station.
Surbala's body had started decomposing. The bodies were taken to a nearby Government Hospital for post-mortem, which would reveal the cause of the couple's death.
"As of now, we do not suspect any foul play," police added.
