Mumbai:
The young photojournalist who was gang-raped in a deserted mill in the heart of Mumbai, and her male colleague, who was a witness, have identified a 17-year-old as one of the five men who assaulted her.
The juvenile was the first person to be arrested after the rape was reported on August 22.
Police sources said that the teen is a serial offender.
Sources said the minor was identified by the photojournalist and her friend through a parade at a juvenile home.
He will be tried by a juvenile court. If he is convicted, he faces a maximum of three years in a reform home.
The police had originally disregarded his family's claim that he is a minor, and had revealed his name publicly.
The Maharashtra government has promised a fast-track trial for the other four men who are in jail.
Earlier this week, an 18-year-old filed a police case accusing five men of raping her at the same location - Shakti Mills - on July 31. Three among those five are already under arrest for assaulting the photojournalist.
One of the other two suspects in the July 31 case is also a minor, who was arrested yesterday. The other accused is still on the run.
