Hyderabad:
The parents of a woman software engineer have been arrested in Andhra Pradesh after she was found killed, two days after she married a man from another community.
The 26-year-old woman was found strangled at her parents' home in Guntur, 266 kms from the capital of Hyderabad, on Sunday.
P Deepthi, had fallen in love with a colleague at the IT firm where she had been working since 2001.
"Her parents took them to their native place in Guntur, telling the newly-wed couple that they had accepted the marriage and the couple only needed to perform some rituals at Guntur," said an unnamed police officer quoted by the Press Trust of India.
At Guntur, the parents allegedly took Deepthi away while her new husband and his friends were asked to stay at a small guest house.
"Kiran Kumar tried to call his wife on her cellphone this morning, and as there was no response, he alerted police who broke open the door of the house to find the woman lying dead on the bed," said the police officer who spoke to the Press Trust of India.
