AAP has taken up the cause of common man, will provide full support to the party, said Medha Patkar
Activist Medha Patkar has become the latest high-profile recruit of the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP founded by Arvind Kejriwal. "It's time for a new wave in Indian politics," she said today.
Ms Patkar, 59, is known for her work in the Narmada Bachao Andolan, a movement that is fighting the construction of large dams on the Narmada river in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Founded a year ago by Mr Kejriwal, AAP lassoed an outsized victory in the recent Delhi elections. Mr Kejriwal is now the Chief Minister of the capital.
His party says it will fight to inoculate politics against corruption and to expunge the VIP culture that has law-makers flaunting their privileges and status symbols, but offering little accountability or availability to the public.
