Bangalore: The Bangalore Literature Festival 2014 or BLF, held between September 26 and September 28, was dedicated to litterateur UR Ananthamurthy, who passed away recently. Authors like Girish Karnad, Chandrashekhara Kambar, Arun Shourie, Leila Seth, Gulzar, Ramachandra Guha, Nayantara Sehgal and Jerry Pinto participated in this year's festival.

The Festival is an annual flagship event on the cultural calendar of Bangalore and focuses on rekindling the romance with literature and fostering fine reading and writing.

The first and second editions of BLF in 2012 and 2013 attracted over 200 authors and artistes from India and abroad, several Indian and global publishers and cultural and diplomatic organisations. The festival made its mark, with an audience of over 18,000 people thronging to the sessions over the three days of each edition.

The Bangalore Literature Festival's guiding principles include being a festival focused on India and Indian writing - a national platform with a 'global' appeal which is reflective of the cosmopolitan nature of the city.
