Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar seemingly sleeping during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech at 'Make in India' meeting.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that his government is ready to change rules and laws to speed up manufacturing under the "Make in India" programme, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was apparently not invigorated.
Seated just one spot away from Mr Modi, the Defence Minister was photographed with his head back, eyes closed, mouth open. The picture was posted on Twitter early this afternoon and retweeted soon without comment by the opposition Congress.
The BJP has not commented on the photograph. NDTV cannot verify its authenticity.
At a workshop on Make in India on Monday evening, Mr Modi told bureaucrats that the earlier Congress government's culture of "ABCD" - avoid, bypass, confuse and delay - must be replaced by that of "ROAD" - responsibility, ownership, accountability and discipline.
"Need to change laws? We are ready. Need to change rules? We are ready. Need to speed up processes? We are ready," Mr Modi said. Bureaucratic delays and red tape are two of the reasons holding back businesses in India. The country slipped to 142 in the World Bank's latest 'ease of doing business' rankings, something that the PM has vowed to correct.
