Carla Bruni meets HIV positive children in Delhi
New Delhi: Noted for her elegant French style, First Lady Carla Bruni arrived at Safdarjung Hospital with a shawl draped across her dark suit and her hair pulled back.

Bruni, whose brother died of AIDS, is the ambassador for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

At the hospital, she met over an hour many patients who are HIV positive.

She then moved to the Naz Foundation in South Delhi which cares for HIV positive children.

Here, children sang for her in English, Hindi and French. Bruni did not join them, but promised to send them CDs of her latest album. Once a noted model, she is also a musician.

"She was very charming and it was very important for a person like her to come and speak to the children because she is very involved in working with AIDS patients and also significant for a person in her position to support this issue in today's world," said Anjali Gopalan, who heads the Naz Foundation.

Bruni folded her hands for a perfect Namaste when reporters tried to talk to her. She said she was grateful for the opportunity to meet with those who are sick.
