New Delhi:
Odisha would receive heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours in the wake of cyclonic storm Phailan, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.
"Odisha will receive heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours due to the cyclonic winds moving north," said IMD director LK Rathore.
"The cyclonic winds are now blowing at the speed of 100 to 110 km per hours in the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. However, the speed is expected to come down to 60-62 km per hour by Sunday evening," he added.
He also forecast heavy rainfall in Jharkhand for the next 24 hours, adding that Chhattisgarh would experience heavy rainfall for the next 36 hours.
He assured that all efforts were being made by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to bring the situation under control, and depending on the situation the rescue materials would be sent to the affected region.
