Lucknow:
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has directed party leaders not to use BSP's flag and banners in upcoming Panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh.
"As Panchayat elections are held on free symbols, the party flag, banners, handbills and posters should not be used in these polls," she said. No office-bearer of the party or the social harmony committee should enter the fray, Mayawati told a meeting of party leaders, MPs and MLAs in Lucknow on Wednesday. "If any leader or worker wants to contest the polls, he or she should first resign from the party's organisational post," the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
She said constitution of committees at all levels should be suspended from September 15 till results of the Panchayat polls were announced. "After the polls, the party's protest on price rise will resume," she said.
