Fathepur:
Dinesh Trivedi had a tough day in office after he was sworn in as the new Railway Minister. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked Dinesh Trivedi to go to Fatehpur, where the Kalka Mail had derailed but he was heckled by angry relatives of train accident victims. The relatives surrounded Mr Dinesh Trivedi and raised slogans against the police and railway officials. Mr Trivedi tried his best to calm them down.
Earlier, Mukul Roy, the former Minister of State for Railways, had defied the Prime Minister by refusing to visit Sunday's two big train disasters - in Uttar Pradesh and Assam. Mukul Roy had told NDTV, "There is no need for me to go now." This is in sharp contrast to Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi who rushed to Fathepur just hours after taking over his ministry at the behest of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The Kalka Mail headed to Delhi had derailed near Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. 69 people were killed in the accident.
