Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh:
A BJP leader from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh and his brother were attacked with crude bombs at a court in Faizabad district today.
Crude bombs were hurled at Chandrabhadra Singh alias Sonu Singh and his brother Monu Singh when the duo appeared as the accused in a case registered under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, in a court in Faizabad district.
A bystander was seriously injured in the attack. The attacker was reportedly killed in retaliatory fire by a bodyguard accompanying Monu Singh.
Three live bombs were later recovered from the court premises. The Bomb Disposal Squad is currently trying to defuse them.
Sonu Singh, a former MLA of the Samajwadi Party, was inducted into the BJP just before the Lok Sabha elections.
He is one of the main accused in the murder of Sant Gyaneshwar, a prominent spiritual leader from Allahabad.
