India is watching even as
Nawaz Sharif inches closer to becoming the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. A few Indian politicians have started congratulating Mr Sharif, even as he gets set for his new role.

Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister: Congratulating Nawaz Sharif for his "emphatic victory" in Pakistan elections, Dr Singh invited Mr Sharif to visit India at a mutually convenient date.
Salman Khurshid, External Affairs Minister: India welcomes whatever result that comes out of a democratic election. Our government has had relations with
Nawaz Sharif. From Prime Minister's side also congratulations will be offered to him. (

Nawaz Sharif. I hope he is now able to live up to his commitment to restart his peace process interrupted in 1999. I suppose we'll have to wait for a post election scenario to emerge in our country before any meaningful engagement can begin #IndoPak. (
