Srinagar:
Senior Congress leader of Jammu and Kashmir and the state's health minister, Shyam Lal Sharma, said giving freedom to Kashmir is the only solution.
Speaking in a public rally in Kathua district, Sharma said Jammu should be made a separate state and Ladakh a Union Territory.
The remarks could be the most controversial statement by a Congress leader in the J&K government so far.
The Congress had strongly criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah when he said in the Assembly that the state has merely acceded with India and not merged.
