Mamata gives up government flat in Delhi without being asked
New Delhi: The Trinamool-Congress alliance came to a complete end a week back, and now West Bengal Chief Minister is going all out in terminating her links with the party in power at the Centre. Today, a day ahead of the Trinamool's protest rally in the national capital against the recent reforms introduced by UPA government, Ms Banerjee has announced that she will give away her flat in central Delhi near the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Ms Banerjee has had this flat in Delhi since 1993, this being her fourth house. Earlier, she has had residences in central Delhi's high-profile areas of Ashoka Road, North Avenue and Gol Market.

Her current 2000 square-feet house has three bedrooms, one office, one study and a drawing-cum-dining room. The house has two caretakers, who now will move to Trinamool MP and former Railway Minister Mukul Roy's residence at 181 South Avenue. Ms Banerjee is also expected to stay at Mr Roy's house during her visits to Delhi from now on.

Tonight is expected to be her last night at her Delhi residence. She is scheduled to fly back to Kolkata tomorrow after the rally in Jantar Mantar.

West Bengal Chief Minister has reportedly offered to give her flat up since she is not an MP anymore and her party has also withdrawn support to the Centre.

The Trinamool Congress chief has had a history of giving her flats up in Delhi immediately after losing her entitlement. In 1992, when she quit as the country's Sports Minister from the Narasimha Rao government, she left her residence at Ashoka Road the same day her resignation was accepted. When she lost in the 1989 Lok Sabha elections, she gave up her flat within three days.
