London:
A proud Mukesh Ambani took his place in the front row as wife Nita Ambani spoke in public for the first time, giving a lecture on emerging India at the London School of Economics.
She is the chairperson of Reliance Foundation and runs 12 schools that educate 15000 children.
Frequently referring to the people she admired most, her father-in-law and husband, the main themes of her lecture were education, healthcare, and harnessing India's many opportunities.
"In the 70s, when Mukesh and I were in university, India was known as a third world country. But now it's going to be the third largest economy. There has been the green revolution movement etc but I believe India is now a movement." Nita said in her address.
But it was her role as the architect of Mumbai Indians that also attracted many questions.
"I think IPL is a very good property and I think it will continue for a very long time. If you put in systems and processes, it will last and very confident Mumbai Indians will do a good job," she said.
Mukesh Ambani, however, refused to take any questions, saying it was Nita's day and he wanted the focus to remain firmly on his wife.
