New Delhi:
Prime Minister
Narendra Modi will today make his first radio address, reaching out to millions across the country with no access to television.
Titled '
Man ki Baat', the address will broadcast on the state-owned All India Radio (AIR) at 11 am and is likely to be carried on all FM and community radio stations along with news channels.
A "recording point" has been set up at 7, Race Course Road, the PM's official residence for the address. The BJP-led government has reportedly spent around Rs 1-1.5 crore on newspaper advertisements for the campaign.
The public service broadcaster is reportedly planning to provide the audio feed and visuals of the PM's speech free of cost to all private radio channels as well as news and current affairs channels which express interest in the footage.
The All India Radio will then repeat the telecast of the PM's address on its regional channels later this evening.
F Sheheryar, the Director General of AIR had earlier said it was a "great encouragement" that the Prime Minister had chosen the public service broadcaster to deliver his address.
Officials had earlier said those who were interested in conveying their thoughts, ideas or questions to PM Modi should do it through the 'myGOV' website (http://mygov.nic.in/). The Prime Minister, they said, is expected to respond to some of the feedback received on the website in his radio address.
