GAP ad featuring a Sikh model which was vandalised with racist comments in New York
After an ad featuring Sikh model-actor and jewelry designer Waris Ahluwalia was plastered with racist graffiti, the company responded quickly on November 26. The ad is now the main photo for its Twitter account, which has over 300,000 followers.
The ad for the clothing company coupled Mr Ahluwahlia with filmmaker Quentin Jones with the hashtag 'Make Love'.
But at New York subway station, the words 'Make Love' were scratched out and replaced with the words 'Make Bombs.' Another scribble said, "Please stop Driving Taxis" in a city where many taxi drivers are Sikhs.
A report in the Daily Beast said international human rights lawyer Arsalan Iftikhar pointed out the vandalism to GAP through a tweet.

"Some members of the Sikh community have started a
'Thank you, Gap' campaign in order to show their appreciation for the inclusion of a Sikh model," reports the Huffington Post.
