Lucknow:
BSP leader Mayawati addresses huge rally in Lucknow on the occasion of her birthday.
The rally is being held in the RamabaiAmbedkar rally grounds on the outskirts of the city. It will kick off the BSP's Lok Sabha election campaign.
Here are the highlights:
- I am releasing the calendar for the Lok Sabha election campaign today.
- Many projects launched on my birthday during my chief ministership have been closed by the ruling SP government.
- I have brought out the 9th edition of my book in Hindi and English that highlights our movement.
- You must know how all other parties are conspiring against the BSP. That is why we're at this rally.
- Congress was very upset when BSP started doing well. But the BJP thought we will benefit them by eating into Congress votes.
- Everyone thought between 2003 and 2006 that this party was finished.
- When we formed the government with BJP for the third time, they had initially not laid down any conditions.
- But in August 2003, they felt that this was an opportune moment to hold elections and have a national alliance with the BSP.
- When the third time in Uttar Pradesh, under my guidance, BJP and BSP formed the government, at that time BJP did not keep a 6-month governance condition.
- BJP thought that they will win more seats with BSP's support and nobody will be able to move BJP from the centre.
- I was harassed by the BJP government at the centre which misused the CBI and charged me under a false case of disproportionate assets.
- I had pledged I will not give in and surrender this movement to communal forces.
- I did not succumb to political pressure or give in to the BJP's demands when they withdrew support.
- I have been able to take our movement forward in adverse circumstances with your support.
- From 1984-2002 elections within UP and outside; be it Assembly or national they noticed us at times and ignored us at other times.
- Rival parties took us seriously when we formed a govt of absolute majority in 2007.
- As a result all the opposition parties united to confront us.
- We will have to prepare ourselves for a direct fight on every seat
- The direct solution to this is to being together SC, ST and OBC's together.
- UP has now become crime pradesh. There is a breakdown of law and order.
- The biggest example of this is the Muzaffarnagar riots.
- Dalits have always stood by Muslims even during the Muzaffarnagar riots.
- Communal forces are doing dramebazi and trying to prevail upon the country.
- Kejriwals party is now ruling Delhi, they have also treated dalits like aam aadmi. If they were really aam aadmi then they would not have had to form their own party.
- These people will not benefit from the aam aadmi status.
