Ahmedabad:
The team members from an Under-16 football team from Gujarat have alleged harassment at the hands of their team manager who, they say, asked them to strip.
The team captain, 15-year -old Ishan says after the tournament was over on Friday night, their drunk team manager, Hiren Rathod, forced some of them into a room asking them to strip and dance.
"Three of us managed to get out but he abused and forced us back. We again made an attempt and fled from the room, called the authorities and our parents for help," Ishan said.
Worried parents say they tried to contact the association; some even got their wards flown back.
"We called up the association but they did not respond," said Ishan's father Atit.
A police complaint was filed against the team manager in Madhya Pradesh, but parents allege the Gujarat football association was not proactive.
The football association, however, denies the charge adding that a probe has been ordered.
"It's the executive committee and the disciplinary committee which has to take action but we have asked the team coach to send in his report," said Philip Job, Joint secretary, Gujarat Football Association.
The report is expected in a week and parents hope action will be taken against the accused team manager.
