Indore:
A thief had a change of heart after stealing three cellphones and he returned the handsets to the owner, a young woman, via courier and also gave her a piece of advice about safe upkeep of valuable items.
An unidentified thief stole three cellphones of a 22-year-old woman, Kratika, which she had placed in her scooter's storage box on March 14. She later filed a police complaint, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Dilip Soni told reporters today.
To her utter surprise, Kratika received her handsets a few days later through a courier sent to her home by the thief who probably found her name and address on the profile page of the mobile phones.
The courier packet also had a piece of paper on which the thief had advised the woman to be careful about safety of her valuable belongings, ASP Soni said.
Police, however, had another explanation about the man's "change of heart". They said he was scared of being caught as police often uses a sophisticated device to track stolen mobile phones and he could have been easily traced.
