Kerala to get 266 MW power from Kudankulam nuclear plant

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will be getting 266 megawatt power from Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) in Tamil Nadu when it is commissioned to its full capacity of 2x1000 MW, says Kerala Electricity Minister Aryadan Muhammad.

This had been made clear to the state by the Central Power Ministry in 2007 itself, Mr Muhammad informed the assembly during question hour on Tuesday.

The state would get 133 MW of electricity on completion of KNPP's first phase with a capacity to generate 1000 MW power. With the completion of the second phase, the state's total share would increase to 266 MW, he said.

The work of laying 400KV line to carry power from Kudankulam to Madakkathara near Thrissur had been entrusted with the Power Grid Corporation of India, he said.
