Pakistan to hold all party meet to discuss anti-terror policy and peace talks with Taliban

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called for an all party conference on September 9 to chalk out an new counter-terrorism policy.

Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Khan has telephoned leaders including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to participate in the all party conference.

"He invited them on behalf of Prime Minister. APC will be held in Prime Minister House on September 9," a close aide of Mr Sharif told PTI.


The APC is likely to discuss the issue of proposed talks with Taliban.

Though the government is keen to hold talks with the Taliban, the outfit has said that it is yet to take a decision on the matter.

The PML-N government, which came to power in June, is grappling with a Taliban insurgency and several other militant groups.

Since Mr Sharif became the premier, the Taliban has carried out a daring jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan that freed nearly 250 prisoners while 10 foreign climbers were gunned down at a mountaineering camp in northern Pakistan.
