London:
A non-Muslim woman in Britain, who wears Western clothes, was told to wear a hijab or face death, a media report said on Monday.
The Sun reported that hardliners are feared to be imposing their values in Tower Hamlets, East London.
Signs warning of "gay-free" zones have been put up and posters of bikini-clad models were defaced.
The non-Muslim Asian pharmacist in Whitechapel said she was told to cover up with a hijab headscarf or face boycott, the media report said.
She said that later a second man said: "If you keep doing these things, we will kill you."
Police are probing the incident.
"Anyone found committing such acts will face criminal proceedings," Paul Rickett, an official, was quoted as saying.
MP Khalid Mahmood for Birmingham's Perry Barr said: "These people must accept others."
