Beijing:
A woman was today killed while six others were rescued when a residential building collapsed in eastern China.
Part of the five-storey building, or 15 out of its total of 40 apartments, in Zhejiang province's Fenghua city collapsed this morning, local officials said.
During a city-wide building safety inspection late last year, the building was identified as dangerous.
The warning resulted in a reinforcement but was not enough to call for an evacuation, Zhuo Houjia, a deputy mayor of Fenghua told state-run Xinhua news agency.
It is believed that all trapped people have been rescued, but the rescuers are still using radar to seek people possibly buried in the debris, the report said.
