Rain accompanied by cold winds lashed Delhi and its adjoining areas for the second consecutive day, resulting in the mercury plummeting by several notches. Traffic jams were reported in several parts of the city. Rain swept most parts of the country on Sunday, with the higher reaches in the North also experiencing heavy snowfall.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a tweet, urged students appearing for the Class 12 Board exams to "leave ur house early". "Traffic police, pl clear traffic jams. AAP volunteers, pl help traffic police, wherever possible (sic)," he also tweeted.
"Till Monday 5.30 a.m., Delhi received 56.8mm rainfall. It is likely to rain more. The day ahead is also likely to be overcast," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
The minimum temperature recorded in the national capital today was 14.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average. The maximum of the day is likely to hover around 18 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the maximum was 19 degrees, eight notches below average.
The Met department has also predicted moderate rainfall across the country today, including several parts of North India.
Police said the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been closed due to heavy snowfall and landslides, reports the Press Trust of India.
The sudden change in weather has been caused by western disturbances, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
"Almost the entire country from the Southern peninsula, parts of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi and even Bangalore has witnessed rain. This is the rainiest day of the winter season," GP Sharma, vice president of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, said on Sunday.
In Jammu and Kashmir, while the upper reaches of the Valley received snowfall, the plains were lashed by intermittent rains with Qazigund in south Kashmir receiving 14.4 mm rainfall.
Wintry conditions also prevailed in most parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with snowfall in several areas.
Two people including a woman died of lightning and electrocution while crops suffered heavy damage due to the untimely rain in the Amravati district in Maharashtra since Saturday.
