A 16-year-old boy screams as he is stripped and brutalized by a group of young men in an extremely disturbing video filmed in southwest Delhi's Inderpuri area.
The mobile phone video surfaced on Thursday, three days after the assault, and has been circulated on social media. "When I came to know of the video, I tried to kill myself," the boy told NDTV today.
Four men have been arrested but the main attacker is missing. The police say they were drunk when they tortured the boy on Monday, accusing him of theft.
One of the men filmed the attack and shared the video, in which the boy is heard crying out in pain as he is tortured with a beer bottle. He is trying weakly to cover himself with his discarded clothes. He is even seen with his hands and legs tied as he is thrashed.
The boy was forced to walk naked in the colony, say the police.
"They told me to get beer, I said I won't. They took me to an office, made me sit on a beer bottle, thrashed me, flung me in the air, touched me inappropriately," said the teen, who stays near the railway tracks.
"First I tried to jump in front of a train, then I tried to hang myself, my family stopped me," the boy said, showing the wounds on his body.
The NDTV team that visited the area was attacked with bricks. This reporter hid in a park and called the police. The team was even chased by men armed with rods.
The attackers, who are all from the neighbourhood, have been charged with assault among other crimes.
