Delhi Government's Mantra for Stress Reduction at Schools

Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

New Delhi:

The Delhi government today announced a 10-day meditation workshop for government teachers aimed at reducing stress at school.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio introduced - on a voluntary basis - the concept of stress reduction in government schools. To begin with, a set of meditation practices - Vipassana and Anapana - will be offered.

"It has been decided to train teachers and officers in time tested scientific and secular practices of Vipassana and Anapana," said Mr Sisodia, adding that if successful the activity could be made available for students as well.

Those teachers who are willing to attend the meditation workshop will be granted paid leave for the sessions with the government bearing all expenses.
