New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl has died after a speeding car, that was being driven by her underage male friend, went out of control and crashed into a tree in New Delhi last night, said police sources.
The minor boy, who suffered serious injuries in the crash, has been admitted to the Trauma Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The two teenagers were studying in the same school in Delhi, and were neighbours staying in Air India colony.
The incident took place in South Delhi's posh Vasant Vihar's D block shortly after midnight, when the boy snuck the Maruti Zen car out of his home, picked up the girl from her home, and decided to go for a drive, police sources said.
The legal age for driving in India is 18 years.
