Heavy rains lashed the city this morning which led to water-logging and traffic jams in several parts of the national capital.
According to Delhi Traffic Police, about 60 per cent of complaints received this morning pertained to water-logging which caused traffic jams at Jasola, Okhla, Apollo towards Ashram, RTR towards IIT Gate, Chelmsford Road towards Paharganj, Ring Road Sarai Kale Khan towards DND, Sarita Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Defence Colony flyover, INA and among others.
Police has asked motorists to avoid these road stretches. The MeT department said that Safdarjung observatory recorded 43.4 mm of rainfall while 41.66 mm of rainfall was recorded at Palam observatory till 8:30 AM.
However, humidity level shot up and was recorded at 100 per cent.
An official said that minimum temperature recorded was 24.6 degree Celsius, three notches below the season's average.
The weatherman has predicted rains throughout the day which will bring down temperature further.
"Maximum temperature is expected to settle at 31 degree Celsius," he added.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperature were recorded at 26 degree and 32.7 degree Celsius.
