New Delhi:
A five-storeyed building collapsed in north west Delhi's Jahangirpuri area today although no casualties were reported as it was evacuated by the occupants barely half an hour before it came crashing down, officials said.
The building situated in D Block of Jahangirpuri collapsed around 5 PM. Its occupants had been evacuated around half an hour before it caved in, a Delhi Fire Services officer said.
The locals had informed about the dilapidated building to the fire services who sent fire tenders to carry out evacuation.
Police said the building was in a poor condition and some construction was allegedly underway on the top floor which put more weight on the building leading to its collapse. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause.
