New Delhi:
BJP's Delhi state chief Vijay Goel, along with senior leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, addressed a press conference in New Delhi today. Here are the highlights:
Vijay Goel:
- In the last months, we have increased awareness about Congress's corruption
- Power tariff, electricity, water, women security were some of the issues that we have raised
- We sent a report on Yamuna, state of villages, unauthorised colonies
- We progressed systematically
- We set up call centers for admissions which led to an increase in the youth seeking admissions
- After Modi was declared as PM candidate, people thought no Muslim would support BJP
- Sushma ji went to each and every booth
- We published reports on alternative agendas
- We used social media extensively to campaign. We have more than 6 lakh followers
- There is a wave against Congress
- AAP has been in a dreamland and people are also thinking they will be able to change things- those are dreams
Sushma Swaraj: - BJP's Delhi state chief Vijay Goel, along with senior leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, addressed a press conference in New Delhi today.
- Anti-Congress wave, a swing towards the BJP and better coordination at the booth level will ensure that BJP forms a government in Delhi with a sizable majority
- People don't want to waste votes on AAP
- For the next two days we will focus on individual booths
Arun Jaitley:
- In the last two weeks, Delhi Congress has stopped attempting to win the polls
- In a way, the national leadership of Congress has abandoned this election
- The BJP is united in its campaign in Delhi and we have all been associated with it
- The loser in these elections is now known - all that needs to be seen is what will be the BJP's majority and whether the new party will be able to make its presence felt
- Each Congress candidate is fighting these elections at a personal level; we can't see an effort at the party's level
- The national leadership seems to have abandoned the campaign
- This was natural as there was a wave for change and the anti-incumbency factor against the state government
- AAP has greater media visibility vis-a-vis its true strength
- Dr Harsh Vardhan:
- It's not just enthusiasm in the workers but also amongst the people
- People don't want to vote for the Congress. The party has become synonymous with scams
- Most people think that voting for the AAP would mean wasting their vote
