New Delhi:
Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's son Nandan was robbed in Belluno, Italy on Sunday. Suhasini Maniratnam, wife of the 61-year-old director and Tamil actress, shared the news with everyone on Twitter yesterday. Suhasini Maniratnam sought help in a series of tweets. One of tweets posted by her read, "SOS, anyone near Venice airport? Can you help our son who was robbed in Belluno. He needs to reach airport. Please help." She shared the location of her son and asked people to call her son only if they could be of any help to him. These tweets were later deleted from her account as her son was being spammed by unnecessary phone calls.
In an angry tweet, Suhasini Maniratnam also requested people not to call and harass someone who is already distressed.
Mani Ratnam's son Nandan received help after a few hours and checked into his hotel safely. In a tweet, Suhasini Maniratnam thanked everybody for stepping in to help him. "Help is on the way for our son. So those from Twitter, who offered help, thank you so much. He's fine now," she wrote.
Nandan, 25, is currently pursuing his studies in Italy. He is the author of the book Contours of Leninism. It is 15-page booklet, which was written by him at the age of 15.
On the work front, Mani Ratnam last helmed Kaatru Veliyidai, starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. The film is set against the backdrop of 1999 Kargil War. Kaatru Veliyidai narrates the story of an Indian military pilot who recalls his romance with a doctor, while being kept as a prisoner of war at Pakistan's Rawalpindi jail.
