Hyderabad:
A case has been registered against the son of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister, Ravela Kishore Babu, and his driver for allegedly misbehaving with a woman on Thursday.
The woman has complained that she was on her way back home in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills area when a car followed her and someone from inside the car asked her to get in. When she walked away in a hurry, the person sitting in the driver's seat tried to pull her into the car.
The woman at that time did not know who was in the car but said she had noticed a tattoo on his hand. Only when the car was followed by the passers-by and the woman's husband, who reportedly witnessed the incident, it was found that the minister's son was the man on the driving seat.
All the men, who were "heavily drunk", were taken to a police station and the case was registered against the driver Appa Rao only. The minister's wife reportedly took her son away in another car.
"The two men were heavily drunk. They couldn't even walk properly. We are demanding that both names (minister's son and driver) should be in the FIR, not just the name of the driver Appa Rao,'' a local said.
A case has been registered against Ravela Susheel, under Nirbhaya Act (IPC 354 D), for stalking the woman.
Susheel has claimed in a post on social networking site Facebook that he had stopped car only to save a pup on the road and the woman started abusing him. "She misused the situation and misled the crowd because of which they lost control and started manhandling me," he said in a statement.
Minister Ravela Kishore has said: "We will not interfere in the case. We (our family) have utmost respect for law and Constitution. Police investigation will reveal whether any crime took place or not."
