Hyderabad:
A psychopath, who has created terror in Andhra Pradesh' West Godavari district with injection attacks on women, struck again today, this time targetting a two-year-old.
The baby was sitting along with her parents when the unidentified man attacked her with injection in Mutyalapallimandi village in Mogaltur mandal.
The injured baby was taken to a hospital, police said. It was not clear if the child's mother was his target.
The psychopath has attacked 13 schoolgirls and women in different villages over last few days.
The latest attack took place even as police continued a massive hunt for the psychopath and announced a reward of Rs.1 lakh to anyone giving information leading to his arrest.
Police have formed 40 teams and set up 15 check posts to arrest the attacker. A sketch of the accused has been released based on information given by the victims.
Intensifying the hunt, police searched medical shops in Tanuku area. The shop owners were directed not to sell needles without doctor's prescription.
Police teams also visited hospitals and gathered information about the employees.
District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan said last week that only one person is involved in the attacks.
"One or two needles were also recovered. They were sent for medical and forensic examination. No poison, drugs or bacteria virus were found. There is no need for women to panic," he had said.
Police stepped up efforts to nab him after six women came under attack in a single day on Aug 25.
