South 24 Parganas: Days after a three-year-old child was hurt in poll-related violence in North 24 Parganas district, a 10-year-old boy was assaulted allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers in South 24 Parganas in West Bengal on Tuesday -- the day Mamata Banerjee campaigned there.

The attack took place after a young boy was found tearing up campaign posters. The attackers allegedly tied him up with a nylon rope and thrashed him. He was then abandoned in a field, the child's father, who was at work at that time in adjoining Kolkata, alleged.

No case has been registered so far.

On Sunday, a three-year-old child was assaulted by alleged Trinamool men in Halishahar in Bijpur constituency in the North 24 Paraganas district. The child's family was allegedly attacked by masked men and she was hurt in the attack. The alleged attackers even threatened to kill the family if they went to cast their vote the next day.

Two people were arrested in connection with the incident after the Election Commission stepped in and took steps to ensure the family could cast its votes on Monday.
