Two soldiers were killed and three others injured in the encounter.

Two army personnel and five terrorists were today killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district near the Line of Control.
Three soldiers, including an Army Major, were also injured in the 12-hour long gunbattle. The injured were taken to a hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
The encounter started after the army and the police launched a search operation following information about a group of terrorists hiding in a house in Marsari village of Chowkibal area.
As soon as the security forces closed in on the house, the terrorists opened fire. The troops returned fire and during the ongoing gunbattle two soldiers were killed, police said.
Search operations are still on, a senior police officer said.
