Srinagar: Amid spurt of terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, the annual Amarnath Yatra began today with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visiting the cave shrine.

The Home Minister who is in the state to review the security situation, said, "I believe as far as security threat is concerned there should be mutual coordination."

Thousands of devotees have already started to reach the base camp for the pilgrimage.

The Yatra that began a day after twin terror attacks in the state is being constantly monitored by the security forces. Additional personnel have been deployed in the entire route for the safety of the pilgrims.

However, the terror attacks have not dampened the enthusiasm of the pilgrims. Most say they are satisfied with the security arrangements.

"Security arrangements are up to the mark, we were frisked thrice then allowed to proceed for the Yatra- checking was done well", said a pilgrim from Ahmadabad.

"There is no fear, we came in a peaceful manner and are feeling very safe, everybody is cooperating, we had fear in the heart but there is nothing like that," said another pilgrim from Punjab.
