Srinagar:
Three soldiers were killed after an army convoy was attacked by terrorists in Pampore on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway today. Reports said at least two more soldiers were injured in the attack that took place around 20 km from Srinagar.
The terrorists fired at the army convoy at Kadlabal in Pampore town of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district around 3:30 pm, the army said. The group of terrorists came on a motorcycle and ran away after the firing indiscriminately, sources said.
Security forces have cordoned off the adjoining residential area and launched a search operation to track down the terrorists, an army official said.
Pampore has been the site of several terror strikes this year. In October, a gun-battle with two terrorists who barged into a government building ended after nearly 60 hours. Both terrorists were killed.
The same seven-story Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building was also targeted in a major attack in February. Five soldiers and a civilian were killed then; three terrorists were shot dead.
