New Delhi: A Delhi court has deferred its order on a plea by environmentalist RK Pachauri seeking permission to enter the TERI office. Pachauri, the director of Teri is accused in a molestation case and the woman has filed a plea for the cancellation of his bail.
The court said since the decision on Mr Pachauri's bail is pending, an order should not be passed on this application.
In an earlier order, the court had barred Mr Pachauri from entering The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) premises till the investigation is over, saying in the past two months, he had not been asked by the Investigating Officer to join the probe.
The complainant had argued that Mr Pachouri should not be allowed to go back to office as he could influence the junior colleague who is in charge now.
Today, the court asked the police to finish the probe in the case by July 17 - when the molestation case will be heard by the Delhi high court.
The court, however, added, "Mr Pachauri cannot be restrained from entering TERI indefinitely... if substantive progress is made in the case, the order will be modified".
On February 13, Mr Pachauri was booked for alleged sexual harassment. He has been granted anticipatory bail on condition that he will join the probe when called, not enter TERI office premises and not intimidate or threaten the complainant and the witnesses in the case.
