Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today said that the comments made by Pakistan Army chief Raheel Sharif about Kashmir show that we are at a bad point in India-Pakistan relations. General Sharif had said that Pakistan and Kashmir are inseparable, and Kashmir is "an unfinished agenda of partition".
Here are the highlights of what Mr Abdullah told NDTV:
- Things have gone downhill since the BJP-PDP government came to power.
- Pakistan's comments on Kashmir show that we are at a bad point in India-Pakistan relations.
- Pakistan must remember Jammu and Kashmir denied plebiscite due to their acts.
- Nawaz Sharif government is ceding space to the Pakistan Army.
- Pakistan is the mothership of terrorism in this region.
- Defence Minister Parrikar's 'terrorist-for-terrorist' remark gave Pakistan a handle.
- Parrikar's comments gave legitimacy to Pakistan's terror claims.
- Mustafa Kamal's views are his alone, the National Conference doesn't subscribe to them.
- Politicizing Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's silence but not the attack on mobile towers.
- Pakistani flags are being waved in the valley more frequently now.
- A web of conspiracy theories around the attacks on mobile towers.
- Never heard of Lashkar-e-Islam, separatists have condemned the attacks on mobile towers.
- Was always in favour of a passport for Geelani...the state government had cleared it, Mr Chidambaram was the Home Minister and the government of India had cleared it and he did not want it.
- If he wants a passport now and completes all formalities, I think he should be given a passport.
