As the Narendra Modi government completes three years in office, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said while the administration is on track and showed a considerable advance, there's a lot to achieve by 2018.
Under PM Modi, there is firm leadership and vision, but "No vision can be implemented in 5 years... For transformation, we need to think from one century to next," the Union transport minister said, adding that the Modi government has done more in 3 years than the UPA in a decade.
The 20-day celebrations to mark the completion of three years of the government will be marked by the personal brand of the Prime Minister.
Around 900 venues around the country have been selected for functions -- ministers and parliamentarians will be in charge of each of them. The festivals will be organised by the state governments. They will highlight the key government policies and accomplishments and share caps and leaflets about large welfare schemes.
The Prime Minister will write a letter addressed to the everyman -- 2 crore copies are being printed and the recipients are beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.
Mr Gadkari said "employment and jobless growth" is the biggest issue today.
On the economic front, revenue receipts have gone up from "Rs 13 lakh crore to Rs 20 lakh crore", Mr Gadkari said. The revenue, he added, will gain from notes ban and the implementation of the government's flagship tax reform GST.
The focus on social schemes is also taking effect. "The Prime Minister's primacy to villages and the poor are giving results," Mr Gadkari said.
