Panaji, Goa: Fabindia's top bosses are likely to join the investigations into union minister Smriti Irani's allegation that she was filmed in the trial room of the clothing giant's outlet in Goa.
The Goa police has summoned 11 people including Fabindia's managing director, CEO, regional managers, directors and other staff members.
The police say they want to question the company on its policy on installing CCTV cameras and monitoring footage. They also want to know who is responsible for maintaining and tracking the cameras at Fabindia outlets.
Sources have told NDTV that two people from the IT department of Fabindia were questioned late on Monday night. Four employees were arrested after the minister's complaint last week, but they were later released on bail.
A woman store manager, Chaitrali Sawant, who used to monitor footage, is also likely to be questioned today.
The police are investigating the allegation that the CCTV camera in the Fabindia store in Candolim had been shifted from its original position to point at the trial room. The Bengaluru-based company that installed the CCTV system has also joined the probe.
"Goa police committed to security and privacy of women. We will interrogate anyone connected with the case, directly or indirectly," Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg told NDTV.
Last Friday, Smriti Irani, the Union Human Resources Development Minister, had discovered the CCTV camera focusing on the trial room while shopping at the outlet on Friday during a private visit to Goa. She alerted the local BJP legislator Michael Lobo, who arrived at the store with the police. A case was registered the same evening.
