Cable television services have been restored in Kashmir after they were snapped earlier in the day in an effort to curb violence in the state that flared following the killing of of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani by security forces on July 8.
The killing of terrorist Wani, face of new-age militancy in Kashmir, has led to massive protests and unrest in the Valley. At least 40 people have died and over 1,500 were injured in the violence.
Curfew and lockdown continued in Kashmir for eight day on Saturday. Despite appeals for calm, protests and clashes took place in several parts of the Valley yesterday.
Two people, one from Kupwara and other from Kulgam, reportedly died on Friday due the injuries they suffered during clashes with the police.
Cellphone and internet services are still disabled in large parts of the Kashmir. All telecom operators had been asked to suspend services in the Valley on Friday.
Meanwhile, police today seized copies of Kashmir's largest circulated newspaper, 'Greater Kashmir' following midnight raids.
"Our office was raided by police, three of our employees were also arrested and 50,000 copies were seized," said a statement from 'Greater Kashmir'.
