New Delhi:
A man was found hanging from a tree this morning near the Parliament complex in one of the most high security zones in Delhi.
The man, in a blue shirt, jeans and sneakers, was spotted a little after 7 am, hanging at a parking lot for the media right next to the Parliament building and top government buildings.
The police identified him as Ram Dayal Verma, a 39-year-old from Madhya Pradesh's Shivpur town. The police have found a 23-page suicide note that, at first glance, indicates he was steeped in debt because of cricket betting. A bag was also found near the body.
The police say Mr Verma, a father of four, came to Delhi on Wednesday.
The area where he allegedly committed suicide was chosen for maximum attention; the heavily-guarded Vijay Chowk is flanked by some of the most important government buildings in the capital besides the President's House or Rashtrapati Bhawan.
