PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has so far not staked her claim to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said today it will carry forward the vision and mission of the late chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with steadfast resolve.
Speaking to some media persons in Srinagar, senior PDP leader and former education minister Naeem Akhtar said: "Mufti Sahib's vision and mission will be carried forward with steadfast resolve."
He was commenting on the present stalemate over government formation as PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has so far not staked her claim to form the next state government.
Asked how much time would the PDP president take to firm up on government formation, Mr Akhtar said: "I can't say how much time the whole thing will take."
"She (Mehbooba Mufti) has to speak to senior party leaders to seek their opinion on the issue, but the message for our workers at the moment is that despite hardships and difficulties in the past, we have carried forward the mission of Mufti Sahib and will do so with steadfast resolve in the future also," he said.
This is being viewed here as perhaps the first public indication by the PDP that the party wants to go ahead with the Bharatiya Janata Party in forming the future coalition in the state that was put under Governor's rule on January 8.
