Will Ask For CBI Probe, Says Nitish Kumar On Journalists Killing

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed a press conference about the journalist who was allegedly murdered.

Here are the highlights of his speech:

• I am very saddened by both incidents (journalist killing and road rage incident), we are acting very firmly, in the gaya road rage issue people have been arrested and we are going to put the case to speedy trail.
• I have always said that crime depends on people's mentality. But when a crime happens, we act. In the Gaya incident, I heard that the family is asking that there should be a CBI enquiry. I asked the DGP to ask the family if they wanted a CBI enquiry. The zonal IG went to the family, and they said the police is doing its job.
• I want to know what else we should do. But some people just believe in talking. We have invoked the excise act against her once liquor bottles were found. We will file a chargesheet soon.
• Another incident happened. A journalist was killed in Siwan. I am worried about this. A journalist has to write or speak. If there is an attack on a journo, it's an attack on me and that's how I am looking at the case.
• I have come to know that family wants CBI enquiry. We will formally request by today evening.
• All this talk of 'jungleraj', there is no weight to this talk. In the last elections those who wanted to get votes in the name of 'jungleraj', they could not get anything. That's why they are spinning all things to 'jungleraj'.
• Even if I am more sensitive to any incident, they don't care. They have already decided what they have to speak.
• Bihar main kaanoon ka raj hai, kaanoon ka raj rahega (Bihar has been ruled as per law and it will be ruled by law). You look at a case to case basis and look at the Bihar government's response. You please compare our response to the response of BJP ruled states. But if you have already decided on a slant, I can't do anything. I can only work without bais.
• You look at the kind of atmosphere we have created in Bihar. But people will say what they have to say.
• I am not obsessed with prohibtion. Please tell me what I am neglecting. Let's have a debate. What am I neglecting?
