On Tuesday morning, the 125th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the Human Resources Development Ministry brought out a full-page advertisement in select dailies, hailing one of the key figures of the freedom movement and the first Minister of Education of Independent India.
But his name was mis-spelt in the advertisement, which also carried one of his statements on the importance of a liberal education.
It also carried the photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee and HRD Minister Smriti Irani.
No one in the HRD ministry was available to comment on the blooper.
Azad was born on November 11, 1888. In 2008, the Centre declared that his birth anniversary will be celebrated as the National Education Day.
