Mumbai:
Rahul Mukherjea, the step-brother and boyfriend of Sheena Bora, who was killed in 2012 allegedly by her mother Indrani Mukerjea, was today questioned for the second time by the police at an undisclosed location in Mumbai.
Sources say Rahul, the son of former Star India Chief Peter Mukerjea, told the police that he had received a text from Sheena Bora's phone after she disappeared, which said she wanted a break-up.
He has also revealed that Indrani had asked him to "stop chasing Sheena" when he questioned her disappearance.
The relationship between Sheena, Indrani's daughter from an earlier marriage, and Rahul, is being suspected by the police as the motive for the murder.
Rahul reportedly met Sheena hours before she left with her mother in a car on April 24, 2012, never to be seen again. The 24-year-old was murdered later that night.
Rahul has told the police that when Sheena disappeared, he tried to file a missing complaint with the police. Sources say the police called Indrani Mukerjea, who told them that Rahul was stalking Sheena and she had left for the US to escape him.
The police reportedly questioned Rahul about his last meeting with Sheena.
Rahul, say sources, was also asked whether Sheena had ever told him that she was Indrani's daughter, not sister. Indrani, 43, had introduced Sheena to everyone as her step-sister. The police believe Sheena, who was raised in Guwahati by Indrani's parents, had threatened to expose the lie.
Rahul was also asked about his interactions with Sheena's brother Mikhael Bora, who was allegedly with him when he tried to file a complaint. The police reportedly also asked Rahul whether he was aware of a financial dispute between mother and daughter - another possible motive being examined.
Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver were allegedly the only people in the car when Sheena Bora was strangled. The body was in the car overnight in the garage at Peter Mukerjea's home before it was taken to Raigad, burnt and dumped in the forests.
