New Delhi: As British Prime Minister David Cameron won a clear victory in the general election on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: "Phir Ek Baar, Cameron Sarkar!"
David Cameron and his Conservative Party have gained an overall majority in Parliament, defying predictions of a hung verdict.
"Congratulations @David_Cameron. As you rightly pointed out- its "Phir Ek Baar, Cameron Sarkar!" My best wishes," PM Modi tweeted, acknowledging a phrase that was inspired by his party's catch-phrase "Ab ki Baar, Modi Sarkar!"
In his campaign, Mr Cameron liberally used Hindi to reach out to British Asian voters.
When asked by NDTV what he'd say to Hindi-speaking voters in the UK, he responded with, "
Phir Ek Bar Cameron Sarkar (another term for a Cameron government)." His party, the Conservative party, had also released a song in Hindi - Aasman Neela Hai (the sky is blue).
